Elon Musk Alleges Massive X Cyberattack After Global Platform Outage

Washington, DC [US], March 11 (ANI): Social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, faced a widespread outage, affecting thousands of users globally. SpaceX CEO and owner of X, Elon Musk, has alleged a “massive cyberattack” against the platform, stating that a well-resourced and coordinated entity was behind the disruption.

Musk took to X to share his concerns, writing, “There was (still is) a massive cyberattack against X. We get attacked every day, but this was done with a lot of resources. Either a large, coordinated group and/or a country is involved. Tracing.”

The claim surfaced after X users worldwide reported issues, with Downdetector – a website that tracks online outages – registering significant disruptions. The outage peaked at 3 PM with 2,612 reports, followed by another spike between 6 PM and 7:30 PM, where 1,312 users experienced difficulties accessing the platform.

Musk’s statement was in response to a user on X who linked the downtime to protests against Dogecoin (DOGE) and the targeting of Tesla stores. The user speculated that these events could be connected to an attack on X.

Downdetector reported an unusually high volume of problem reports, indicating a significant disruption. Frustrated users flooded the platform, expressing dissatisfaction with X’s service. Some called for Musk to step down from managing the platform, with one user stating, “Musk needs to fire himself. Terrible on running ‘X.’ Another user from India reported that the platform was “not working in India right now.”

As of the latest update, X remains unstable, and investigations into the alleged X cyberattack are ongoing. Musk’s claims suggest that a highly coordinated effort was involved, though no official confirmation of the responsible party has been made yet.

With concerns over cybersecurity growing, this incident raises critical questions about the resilience of social media platforms against large-scale cyberattacks. More details are expected to emerge as investigations continue.
